The Office for the Establishment of War and Economic Crimes Courts in Liberia (OWECC-L) is set to kick off its Montserrado County Outreach Rollout on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, marking another pivotal stage in its national awareness and engagement campaign.
According to OWECC-L, this new phase follows successful outreach activities already conducted in Nimba, Grand Gedeh, River Gee, Grand Kru, Maryland, Grand Bassa, and Margibi Counties, where citizens and local stakeholders overwhelmingly expressed support for the creation of both the War and Economic Crimes Court and the Anti-Corruption Court.

Since the launch of its nationwide campaign in July 2025, OWECC-L’s outreach team has worked closely with traditional leaders, youth and women’s organizations, civil society groups, and local authorities to foster inclusive participation in Liberia’s transitional justice process.
Community-Centered Engagement
The Montserrado rollout will feature a dynamic mix of town hall meetings, radio talk shows, community dialogues, and interactive sessions aimed at deepening public understanding of the courts’ importance in strengthening rule of law, fighting corruption, and ensuring accountability for past crimes.
OWECC-L emphasized that the initiative is designed to give all Liberians—regardless of background or affiliation; an opportunity to engage, share opinions, and make meaningful contributions to shaping how the courts operate.
A Step Toward Lasting Accountability
The Office reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and citizen-driven dialogue, describing these values as key to building a justice system that protects rights and sustains peace.
“This process belongs to the Liberian people,” OWECC-L said in a statement. “Through open conversations and participation, we are taking real steps toward ending impunity and creating a culture of accountability.”
As preparations advance, the Office continues to urge citizens across Montserrado County to participate fully in the rollout activities and contribute
