KAKATA, August 12, 2025 – The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has officially wrapped up its two-day media training on taxation and revenue reporting, with participants pledging to become “tax ambassadors” in their communities.
Held in Kakata City, Margibi County, the training brought together journalists from Montserrado and Margibi Counties, equipping them with practical tools for accurate tax reporting and a deeper understanding of Liberia’s tax system.
In his closing remarks, D. Kaihenneh Sengbeh, Manager of the LRA’s Communication, Media & Public Affairs Section, emphasized that the collaboration between the LRA and the press is crucial for transparency and national development.

“Every headline, broadcast, and post you share can inspire compliance and make taxation a shared national responsibility,” Sengbeh told participants.
The sessions covered the structure and roles of the Domestic Tax Department, Customs Department, and CMPA, alongside practical tax-reporting methods and media ethics.
Press Union of Liberia President Julius Kanubah, who joined the closing program, reminded journalists of the importance of maintaining professional integrity.
“We will not defend any journalist who compromises ethical standards,” Kanubah cautioned. “Journalistic solidarity and professionalism are non-negotiable.”
Participants expressed their gratitude to the LRA and PUL for the initiative.
“I now have the insight to better explain the tax process to our listeners,” said Sabira Wanlalia of the Voice of Liberia.
Certificates were awarded at the end of the program, along with resources to aid in future reporting. The LRA also announced opportunities for joint awareness campaigns, further cementing the role of the media in advancing Liberia’s tax compliance culture.
This training marks the start of a renewed partnership between the tax authority and the media — one aimed at boosting voluntary compliance, mobilizing domestic revenue, and supporting Liberia’s long-term development goals.
