The National Executive Committee (NEC) of Liberia’s Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has officially suspended the entire Interim Leadership of CDC-USA and transferred full authority over the chapter to the party’s National Convention Committee, chaired by Rev. Solomon M. Muin.
The decision follows an emergency NEC session held February 22, which addressed what party officials described as a prolonged administrative crisis within the U.S. branch.

Interim Leadership Suspended for “Gross Insubordination”
According to the official NEC resolution, the party leadership determined that members of the CDC-USA Interim Leadership failed to comply with directives, refused dialogue, and challenged the NEC’s authority.
The NEC stated the suspension was issued for:
- gross insubordination
- violation of party protocols
- conduct unbecoming of a CDC structure
The resolution lists multiple senior officials suspended with immediate effect, including the chairman, acting chairman, vice chairpersons, secretary general, treasurer, and additional chapter leaders.
Several state-level officials were also suspended.
All affected individuals have been referred to the party’s National Grievance and Ethics Committee for investigation and disciplinary proceedings.
Philadelphia Convention Declared the Only Authorized Gathering
The NEC simultaneously reaffirmed that the June 2026 CDC-USA National Convention in Philadelphia remains the sole legitimate convention.
Party officials warned that any parallel convention, including a proposed gathering in Minnesota, is “illegal, null, and void” within the party structure.
Members were also instructed not to engage in financial or organizational dealings with the suspended leadership.
Convention Committee Given Full Control of CDC-USA
Under the resolution:
- All administrative authority over CDC-USA now rests with the National Convention Committee
- The committee is recognized as the only legitimate body authorized to manage chapter affairs
- It has exclusive responsibility to coordinate elections and convention preparations
However, the NEC added that the committee cannot disburse convention funds without prior written approval.
Rev. Muin Appointed Officer-in-Charge
In a separate official communication, Rev. Solomon M. Muin was formally appointed Officer-in-Charge of CDC-USA with authority to oversee administrative, operational, and financial matters previously handled by the interim leadership.
His responsibilities include:
- representing CDC-USA in official matters
- overseeing chapter records and assets
- ensuring alignment with party constitutional directives
- serving as liaison with the NEC in Liberia
NEC Calls for Unity Ahead of 2029 Political Plans
In closing remarks within the resolution, the NEC said the intervention aims to restore order, protect party unity in the diaspora, and prepare for future national political goals.
The committee emphasized its commitment to internal democracy and constitutional governance as the party prepares for Liberia’s future electoral contests.
